Your girl is tired. That is the theme of the week. Full training week of five training runs: base pace on flats, base pace on rolling hills, short tempo run, long run, and a recovery run. Plus three training sessions with my coach. I am close to topping out in mileage as I won’t go past 35 miles — not at this age! I can’t believe I ever did 48 when marathon training. Sheesh. Read on for the highlights.
Base run miles on tired legs. The thing about getting older is you just don’t recover as fast. Probably should’ve taken the ice bath last night that was suggested to me. Bloop. Good to get the miles in though – my legs need to get used to running tired anyway.
These are my favorite training sessions. I’ve been putting in a lot of miles, so Trainer wanted to activate the fast twitch muscles today. These were the last five drills after treadmill digs, agility ladder, and cone drills. Maybe more than the physical challenge is the brain training, trying to memorize these patterns while you’re exhausted…and then suspend thinking and get your body to react — fast. Did each one twice 1) figure 8s; 2) plant and peddle; 3) peddle hop and shuffle hop; 4) joystick turn and go; and 6) joystick peddle and shuffle. I am currently a free agent and available for any team looking for a DB. Please contact my coach/agent.
Yesterday’s long run. I’ve run 43 miles in 8 days…your girl is tired lol! But not injured — yay. My foot and the rest of me is holding up. So today is all about recovery: four recovery miles, rolling, stretching, my special foot exercises, and if I have time I’ll put on the compression boots. It’s a lot to keep this – ahem – “mature” body healthy, but totally worth it.
Total Miles: 32
Long Mile: 13 miles
