Training Week: June 10 to June 16

This was a week to start prepping and conversely tapering for my last event the season. This meant a combo of easy runs and one brutal run. See below for the details.

I have one more little event I have to do before I end the racing season and start up on base building again. So in preparation for the event, I FINALLY took my coach’s advice to cut down my miles and pick up the pace. (More on this humbling later.) So instead of a steady base pace 6 miles, I did some 1Ks at a faster pace. Here’s the workout. I can’t believe I hit each one at the exact same pace!!! .75 warm-up at 9:05

Side note: I attended my longtime running buddy’s graduation party. When we first started rubbing together he was just a young(ish), crazy, punk rock kid — now he is a Doctor! Yay.

I had a nice selfie of me smiling and looking refreshed but decided to go the more accurate route instead. 8 miles/33 laps on the track (the track measures short); 28 of the laps without music. Have you ever done that? Of course not. Who in their right mind wants to do that?!? This was a mental challenge more than a physical one for sure, so the goal was just to finish. But as they say “eat the frog” and now that I’ve gotten this out of the way, I am free to enjoy my weekend and the easy-ish workouts left. Yay. Hope everyone’s weekend is off to a great start!
